Frequently asked questions.
WHAT MUSIC I PLAY?
Any kind you want me to :)
As a general rule, I try to avoid disco polo. I don’t like it, don’t want it, can’t do it. I am able to substitute Zenek with The Beatles successfully; „Szalona” becomes „Kryzysowa Narzeczona”, and instead of „Duck Dance” there can be „Macarena” – the effect will be the same. BUT! … There can be an emergency, a situation which needs to be solved, people make mistakes – a guest asks politely, the client agrees – I don’t have any problem with that. I am prepared. But if you are looking for a DJ to play some folky tunes, though, where half of the songs is disco polo and other similar genres, I pass.
I like receiving playlists from my clients (up to 50 tracks) as a form of some musical hints, including songs that have to be played, as well as the ones that on no condition can.
Anyway, below there’s a list of my verified all-time favourites.
HOW I HOST THE EVENTS?
Just like that – my own way. Naturally. I take the microphone and do the right thing. I inform and talk; I don’t interrupt. I like my voice. When I talk, people listen. However, I do it only when I actually have something to say. I don’t normally happen to make language mistakes. I know how to adjust the temperature of word-setting to given situation, guests disposition and the energy flowing around. I don’t yell. I don’t push. I just give the opportunity.
HOW I DRAG THE GUESTS OUT ON THE DANCE FLOOR?
I don’t. I just play good music. Then the dance floor crowds itself :) I don’t know how it happens, with me – it just works. It seems to me it is the matter of well prepared music selection and the ability to detect the mood of the guests and their musical tastes and needs. It hasn’t happed I had to say things like: “everybody on the dance floor”, “ladies, now is your choice” etc.
A rigid rule – when I play, I don’t talk.
The rest follows.
WHAT CONTESTS I PROVIDE?
I have got some unique ones and tested evergreens. I am glad to tell you everything about it, when you call or email me. I am totally open to fresh and new ideas. What you need to know – in my case – competition doesn’t go together with embarrassment; and the integration goes freely and isn’t annoying. You won’t experience any eggs or banana games, nor fancy dressing. I prefer the quiz tv show form; during which the guests take part since it is interesting, they want to do it themselves, and not because it was appropriate or they felt forced to.
HOW I DRESS?
The bare minimum is the smart casual style. A jacket, a shirt, trousers and a pair of loafers it’s a must. Never any jeans, short-sleeved shirts or sneakers. I enjoy a bit of tasty extravagance. I don’t wear colorful wigs, you won’t see me dress up as Elvis…
Check out the gallery. I’ve got nothing to be ashamed of. :)
DO I HOST EVENTS IN ENGLISH?
Yes, of course, I do. I was raised on subtitled cartoons. Since I was a child, I have been constantly exposed to the English language. I can safely say half of the events I host, I do it in both Polish and English, or English only. And anyway, let’s set up a phone conversation, can be Skype as well, and everything will clear up.
HOW I LIGHT THE PLACE?
Everything depends on the set you’ve chosen. It is of great importance to me that the lights are ’in the mood’. They will go with the atmosphere and emphasize it; whether the dance floor gets hot, or it is time for some cuddling and slow dancing. You’ll notice some standard RGB color range, and fashionable warm white, amber; and in some ‚strategic ’ moments even ultraviolet. What’s important, I light the scenery so that the photographer can take wonderful pictures, and the movie is going to look great too. All of the lighting is constantly controlled. If the photographer approaches me to ask for amber-hued counter light, as ‚this is the moment’, I am more than glad to cooperate for you to have the most amazing memory ever. I don’t use any lasers or aggressive stroboscopes. I bring out rays of light using some gentle haze from a smoke machine.
HOW I PROVIDE THE SOUND?
The best possible way in given conditions. They say I have got a good ear. Acoustics of each and every specific place is different, hence before each event I always soundcheck the premises. I set the sound system in a way it is loud enough on the dance floor, and at the same time it doesn’t bother the guests in their conversation at the tables. I use a wireless audio mixer. In practice it means that, for instance, during the speeches I can stand in the most remote corner of the banquet hall and adjust the volume so that the person speaking is audible, even if he or she holds the microphone next to their belly button :)
WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORT AND ACCOMMODATION?
It depends. It is usually good manners when the organizer provides lodging for the night. From my point of view, it is a sigh I can do my very best and I don’t have to worry about extra energy supplies for the way back home. However, in case of an event, after which I consider to be safe enough to go back home I won’t charge you additionally. Approximately, the cost of transport is 50zl for 100km. Of course that doesn’t concern you if your event takes place in the Tricity or nearby.
WHAT EQUIPMENT I USE?
Professional, top-shelf and only renowned brands blah blah blah… :) What you really need to know, my dear client, is that I work on equipment, which is going to sound well, light well and is going to be reliable. If you want me to be a little more specific, here you’ve got it.
Currently, my favourite and most often used set is:
I place enormous emphasis on my workstation appearance. You won’t notice any loose cables, shabby mountings or advertising stands. My whole equipment is neat and clean. That’s a tiny fixation of mine… :) Check it out. Photo below.
